Community Assistant II (Hunterdon-Morris County)
Position Summary:
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Community Assistant II – Hunterdon and Morris Counties of Rutgers Cooperative Extension. 4-H is the youth development department of Rutgers Cooperative Extension, connecting youth and our community to Rutgers University. 4-H develops leadership, citizenship, and life skills in all youth, grades K-13 (one year out of high school), utilizing a learn by doing approach. This position is funded by two grants focused on teen leadership: the 4-H Leadership Academy and the Teens as Teachers. This position will support the grant programs implementation to strengthen leadership skills in over 100 New Jersey teens.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Coordinates program schedules and logistics.
- Recruits eligible teens and aid them in the registration process.
- Provides consistent communication with program youth, volunteers, and staff/faculty.
- Creates, disseminates, and collects appropriate program evaluation materials and impact reports.
- Creates program marketing.
- Supports teens and families throughout the process, including locating teaching and service-learning opportunities.

Equipment Utilized:
Computer, printer, and related software, including but not limited to Microsoft Office suite, Google Docs, virtual meeting platforms, and ZSuites. Email for communications and research, locally and nationally. Equipment related to teaching (laptop, projector, etc.). Working knowledge of current and changing electronic technology.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Ability to chaperone overnight events at state campsites and Washington, DC. Ability to travel to a variety of job locations (i.e. office, schools, community agencies). Ability to carry demonstration supplies, presentation equipment and class materials. Ability to work in the daytime, evenings and weekends, as needed. Must be able to secure own reliable transportation
Special Conditions:
This position requires availability for onsite support of teens and volunteers during the 2026 and 2027 Hunterdon 4-H and Agricultural Fairs. The 2026 fair is August 19-23. This is a 100% grant funded position, employment in this position is contingent upon the availability of funds. This position will expire once the grant has ended. This position is subject to a successful background check. Safe Driving Record.
