(Position is grant funded. It will have an end date of 4/30/2026)

Serves as coordinator and trainer for community education and outreach for a college, program, or center.

  1. Helps develop and implement strategies to identify partners and resources, which may include public and private schools, childcare providers, associations dealing with education, staff, volunteers, training sites and funding.
  2. Develops and monitors computer data-base systems for classes and workshops, participant follow-up, networking, funding, recruiting volunteers, program related materials, and other information needed to serve the educational community.
  3. May plan and conduct training workshops for childcare providers, parents, and teachers.
  4. Helps develop policies and procedures for recruitment, training and follow-up.
  5. Develops community awareness and represents the department in various functions.
  6. Assists with setting and meeting budgeting goals, developing materials for use in recruiting, training and follow-up.
  7. Coordinates and participates in events and promotes events and programs through social media and other promotional materials.
  8. Prepares analyses and reports for management use.
  9. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

MQ: "Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience. "

Role Summary
The Bilingual Community Education and Outreach Coordinator will serve as a bridge between the research center and the community, promoting education, engagement, and collaboration. This role is responsible for assisting with developing and delivering culturally relevant outreach initiatives in English and Spanish, supporting research participation, and strengthening partnerships with local organizations to advance the center’s mission.

Job Duties:

  • Develop and implement community outreach and education initiatives in English and Spanish.
  • Represent the research center at community events, workshops, and partner meetings.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, schools, and health partners.
  • Translate, adapt, and deliver educational materials and presentations for diverse audiences.
  • Assist with participant recruitment and engagement for research studies and health programs.
  • Collect, track, and report outreach and participation data to support program evaluation.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to integrate community engagement into research projects.
  • Ensure all outreach activities reflect cultural relevance and align with institutional goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, education, social sciences, communications, or related field.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (oral and written) required.
  • Experience in community outreach, health education, or program coordination, preferably in academic or research settings.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge of culturally responsive approaches to health education and community engagement.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic data tracking/record-keeping.
  • Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends for community events.

-Department is willing to accept education in lieu of experience.
