Industry Engagement and Capstone Program Coordinator

Duties & Responsibilities:
The Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) College of Engineering invites applications for a new Industry Engagement and Capstone Program Coordinator position. This role will serve as a key connector between the College of Engineering and the industrial community, supporting partnerships, corporate relations, student projects, and events that advance the College’s academic and research missions.
The successful candidate will:
- Support the Development and maintenance of industry relationships to grow partnerships with companies for purposes including:
- Sponsoring student Capstone Design Projects and Vertically Integrated Projects (VIPs)
- Establishing collaborative research and innovation partnerships between industry and the College
- Promote academic programs by connecting with industry partners for marketing and outreach of professional programs, including certificate programs, M.S. programs, and online offerings.
- Coordinate events related to corporate engagement and student-industry collaboration, including planning, execution, logistics, and follow-up for major events such as Capstone Design Expos, partnership showcases, and networking sessions.
- Work under the direction of the Associate Dean for Research and Innovation and in collaboration with the Executive Director of Corporate Relations to strengthen faculty and student organization connections with industry, expand partnerships, and facilitate master agreements.
- Support Capstone design courses and activities, working with faculty leads to coordinate industry participation, manage project documentation, and assist with related events and presentations.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience that equates to a bachelor’s degree, in business, marketing, communications, engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Experience: Some years of relevant experience in corporate relations, industry engagement, academic partnerships, or program coordination.
- Skills and Attributes:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to maintain professional relationships across academia and industry
- Strong organizational, and project coordination skills
- A team-oriented and collaborative mindset
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of STEM disciplines
- Experience coordinating complex events

Salary Range: $60,000 - Commensurate
