Community Liaison for Ear Health Research Project

Bamaga & surrounding communities
We are looking for a local community member to work with us on an ear health research project in Bamaga and nearby communities.
This role is about listening to community, sharing information, and helping make sure research is done in a respectful and culturally appropriate way.
About the Job
- Casual position
- Pay rate: $54.28 per hour + 12% superannuation
- Based in Bamaga and surrounding communities
- Training and ongoing support will be provided
- You do not need university experience
What you will do
- Talk with community members about ear health
- Help organise and take part in yarning circles
- Collect community feedback and share it with the research team
- Support researchers to work in a respectful way with community
- Help make sure community voices are heard in the research
Who we are looking for
- Someone who is trusted in the community
- Able to speak Yumplatok or Torres Strait Kriol
- Comfortable talking with people and working as part of a team
- Reliable and organised
- Experience in health, community work, or research is helpful, but not required
About the project
This project is run by The University of Queensland and focuses on improving ear health for children and families in Far North Queensland. The research is guided by community priorities and aims to make a real difference locally.
