Comparative Politics, Open Rank Faculty Position in Political Science
The Department of Political Science at Stanford University is seeking applications for an open rank, tenure line position in Comparative Politics. Applicants must have demonstrated the ability to maintain a world-class research program and a commitment to effective teaching and mentoring. The term of appointment is expected to begin on September 1, 2026.

For untenured positions at the rank of assistant professor, candidates must have a PhD or be enrolled in a PhD program with expected completion by the appointment date. They should provide a cover letter, CV, research and teaching statement (no more than three single-spaced pages), teaching evaluations, Ph.D. program transcripts, a writing sample, and three professional letters of recommendation.
For tenured positions at the rank of associate or full professor, candidates must have a conferred PhD. They should provide a cover letter, CV, teaching and research statement (no more than three single-spaced pages), and teaching evaluations.
The salary range for the 2025–26 academic year is: Assistant Professor: $139,050 - $149,350; Associate Professor: $180,250 - $226,600; Professor: $257,500 - $360,500.
