Job Description:

• Contribute to one of the world’s largest science projects, the Square Kilometre Array (SKA).
• Join a multidisciplinary team developing cutting-edge photonic systems for astronomy and space science.
• Full-time appointment on a fixed term basis for 2 years.
• Base salary range: $95,231– $100,643 p.a. plus 17% superannuation.

About the area

The International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR) is a joint venture between Curtin University and The University of Western Australia (UWA), funded by the WA State Government. ICRAR is a leading Australian institution in radio astronomy and a key partner in the international SKA Project. The Astrophotonics Group at ICRAR designs and tests advanced photonic systems for radio and optical astronomy, with a focus on high-precision signal transfer technologies.

About the opportunity

• Lead configuration management for a complex optical fibre-based frequency distribution system.
• Support project administration for a major international science contract.
• Collaborate with engineering teams, the SKA Office, and global partners to deliver a scalable, high-performance solution.

About you

• Experienced in configuration management with relevant qualifications or extensive experience in the field, familiarity with tools such as ALIM or similar, and demonstrated equivalent competency.
• Skilled in project administration, including scheduling, documentation, and stakeholder coordination.
• Strong communicator with excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple priorities independently.
• Collaborative team player with experience working across multidisciplinary teams.
