Position Overview
Rider University invites applications for a Contracts Administrator who will support the General Counsel in the daily activities of the Legal Affairs Department, with primary emphasis on review, drafting and processing of contracts, contract insurance requirements, communication with business managers within the institution, and external communications with contract partners and insurance advisers. The Contracts Administrator will interact with attorneys (internal and external), administrators, faculty, support staff, clients and vendors and maintain confidentiality of client and University matters. Legal assistant responsibilities as needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Associate's degree required; bachelor's degree highly preferred; 3 years of experience.
- Substantial experience with contracts review, drafting, and management.
- Familiarity with risk management, data privacy, and security concepts and principles.
- Demonstrated attention to detail, follow up, and organizational skills.
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient with Google Apps and all Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint).
- Advanced drafting and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities.
- Advanced contract negotiation and drafting with the ability to provide guidance to stakeholders regarding the impact of contract terms and conditions.
- Ability to prioritize and be flexible in a high-volume professional environment; ability to conclude negotiations and close contracts in a timely manner.
- Commitment to the mission of education, and dedication to serving internal clients.
- The successful candidate for this position will be subject to a pre-employment background check.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- JD or Certified Paralegal (CP), Certified Legal Assistant (CLA) credential (ABA approved).
- Experience in a higher education environment; experience with contracting.
- Experience with IT contracts (e.g. Saas, self hosted) , data privacy and security.
- Familiarity with insurance, risk management concepts and principles.
