Controls Specialist
Reporting to the Chief Plant Operator, the Controls Specialist is responsible for maintaining controls for building automation, including HVAC equipment, pumps, vent hoods, lighting, swimming pool, and miscellaneous equipment to maintain comfortable environments for staff and students.
Essential Performance Requirements*
Orders services and materials to facilitate completion of work
Repairs building automation controls
Repairs and maintains equipment, including pumps, plumbing, and HVAC systems; troubleshoots abnormalities
Utilizes Energy Management Systems specific to each campus to ensure that the Central Plant properly maintains affected environments
Troubleshoots HVAC Equipment and the Energy Management System
Conducts preventative maintenance on HVAC Equipment
Maintains chiller maintenance and work logs
Monitors, adjusts, and repairs control equipment; upgrades equipment controls as necessary
Performs emergency equipment repairs (electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic) as needed
Researches parts replacement costs and submits requests
Sets up equipment scheduling as needed
Designs and installs system controls
Researches and analyzes design proposal
Oversees plant operations in absence of chief plant operator
Qualifies as Plant operator
Service Excellence
Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the work site
Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College
Supervision
Works under the general supervision of the Chief Plant Operator
