Position Summary

Position serves as lab coordinator.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serves as custodian for lab/department lab equipment, maintaining asset record inventory using online asset system; participating in asset audits; coordinating equipment moves and maintenance; maintaining scientific/audio visual equipment and related service contracts, calibrations and oil/filter servicing; assigning asset numbers and handling storage; etc.
  • Coordinates/plans alterations and renovation projects, working with investigators and Design/Construction to meet needs.
  • Coordinates and assists with laboratory moves.
  • Works with department Maintenance Engineer and serves as liaison between department and physical plant where required.
  • Provides for delivery, distribution, storage and regulated marking of radioactive materials, turning packing slips over to Purchasing Assistant.
  • Serves as safety coordinator, providing quarterly eye wash check, annual emergency shower/hood inspections, current chemical hygiene plans and protective gear such as lab coats and safety glasses.
  • Performs calibrations and analytical runs as requested, instructing/assisting staff/students on use of equipment.
  • Serves on safety committees as necessary.
  • Backs up locksmith as necessary.
  • Coordinates project activities and meetings between Washington University groups and external collaborators.
  • Coordinates sample shipments to external collaborators.
  • Coordinates documents for grant and progress report submissions.

Salary Range

$17.10 - $29.09 / HourlyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
