Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit: The Disability Resource Center (DRC) at the University of North Carolina Wilmington is a department within the Division of Student Affairs. The DRC assists in meeting the unique educational needs for students with documented disabilities by promoting equal access to all programs and services. This enables eligible students to become integrated into campus life and become more successful, while maximizing their independence.
Brief Summary of Work for this Position: This position coordinates testing services for the Campus Testing Center which reports through the Disability Resource Center. Testing will include scheduling, proctoring, and management of accommodated exams, make-up exams, and other out-of-schedule course testing for UNCW on-campus courses. The coordinator will maintain testing facilities, including responsibility for testing integrity, faculty and student communications, managing workflow, and training and supervising student staff.
Responsibilities include:
- Management of Campus Testing Center services, facility space, and technical resources.
- Hire, train, schedule, and direct GA and student employee proctors/exam managers.
- Coordinates, implements, and oversees the administration of automated and manual exams given through the Testing Center.
- Ensures the provision of approved accommodations for students with disabilities.
- Maintain familiarity with and ensure compliance with student verification and academic integrity standards.
- Maintain clear, accurate and complete records of all testing appointments.
- Maintain exam integrity and security and maintain confidentiality with regard to information processed, stored, or accessed by systems.
- Collect, organize, disseminate, and return test materials between faculty and students testing in person.
- Write incident reports to be delivered to the Assistant Dean of Students for Academic Honor and Community Standards and the course instructor for student integrity issues.
- Oversee prompt, courteous, professional, and timely communications with students, faculty, and campus units.
- Promote a safe, secure testing environment conducive to all students.
- Provide data and analytics for Campus Testing Center to contribute to the DRC annual report and strategic plan implementation.
- Research, advocate for, and implement emerging technologies that support best practices and testing service standards.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree in a related field with 2 years of comparable experience or Master's degree in a related field. 1+ years experience working in an academic setting.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience: Organized and detail oriented. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience within a testing center. Basic technical skills included changing computer settings, installing software, etc. Experience with accommodated testing or working with individuals with disabilities strongly preferred.
FTE: 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week)
