Coordinator of Student Accountability & Restorative Practices

Towson University is seeking a Coordinator for the Office of Student Accountability & Restorative Practices. This position promotes student learning and development by adjudicating cases of alleged student misconduct, guaranteeing all parties their rights of due process, coordinating outreach and education, and serving as a departmental liaison to the division and university regarding civility education.

Responsibilities for the Coordinator of Student Accountability & Restorative Practices include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Adjudicate students and groups allegedly involved in violations, including conducting informal investigations and recommending appropriate accountability actions; educate and assist students in learning from misconduct, reflecting on their decision making and their impact on the community
  • Coordinate and implement the department’s outreach and education; facilitate educational programs to the campus community; develop and implement outreach and marketing strategies to educate the campus community on policies and how behavior impacts others; work with campus partners to coordinate educational programming for the Office of Student Accountability & Restorative Practices
  • Support the office’s creation and implementation of restorative practices resources, conflict coaching, conflict resolution skill building, preventative education, and mediation to students and student groups; coordinate restorative practices circles within the student accountability process
  • Develop strategies for social media platforms as part of outreach plan; create website content related to departmental policies and programming
  • Build and maintain relationships with collaborative offices such as Fraternity & Sorority Life, Civic Engagement & Social Responsibility, University Police, Housing & residence Life, Athletics, and others
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree
  • One year of experience in student conduct, restorative practices, or related experience
  • The selected candidate must have an understanding of student development in the college environment and a commitment to student advocacy
  • Must demonstrate administrative and organizational skills, including coordinating multiple tasks and responsibilities
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including listening skills
  • Knowledge of current practices and legal issues pertaining to student conduct
  • Evidence of establishing effective working relationships with students, faculty and staff
  • Evidence of taking initiative
  • Experience handling sensitive and confidential issues
  • Ability to deliver educational content through trainings and/or educational programming
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Ability to resolve disputes
  • Ability to work efficiently, meet deadlines, and respond to emerging problems and crises
  • Ability to utilize communication technologies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in higher education administration, student personnel, counseling, conflict resolution, social work, criminal justice, or a related field
