The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate the preparation and setup of science laboratory experiments, exams and activities on multiple GTCC Campuses. Other duties include, purchasing and taking inventory of supplies and materials, maintaining proper waste disposal in labs and maintaining/repairing equipment. The Science Laboratory coordinator works closely with faculty members and part-time laboratory assistants to both plan and improve the laboratories each week for class. The incumbent must practice good interpersonal skills and be able to work independently.
Education Required:
Bachelor's degree in a laboratory science (e.g., biology, chemistry, etc.) or a related field from an institutionally accredited college/university
Education Preferred:
Bachelor's degree with an academic concentration in chemistry or biochemistry from an institutionally accredited college/university
OSHA chemical and biological hazard certifications.
Experience Required:
3 years of relevant work experience in a laboratory environment.
Experience with chemicals used in laboratory environments to include hazardous material disposal regulations.
Experience with models and demonstration experiments utilized in the physical sciences.
Experience working in a laboratory setting; preferably in an academic setting.
Managerial experience in a laboratory environment.
Experience Preferred:
Greater than 3 years of relevant work experience in a laboratory environment.
Experience supervising student employees.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, i.e., Word, Excel and Outlook.
