Counselor, Counseling Services
- Provides individual, group, and crisis counseling services to students presenting with personal, academic, emotional, and mental health concerns.
- Conducts assessments, intakes, evaluations, and treatment planning using evidence-based counseling practices.
- Maintains accurate, timely, and confidential clinical records in accordance with HIPAA, FERPA, university policy, and state licensure requirements.
- Responds to mental health crises and participates in on-call or emergency response protocols as assigned.
- Provides referrals to campus and community resources as appropriate.
- Develops and delivers outreach, prevention, and psychoeducational programming for students, faculty, and staff.
- Consults with faculty, staff, and administrators regarding student concerns while maintaining confidentiality standards.
- Participates in case management, multidisciplinary teams, and coordination of care.
- Complies with ethical standards established by professional counseling associations and the Mississippi State Board of Examiners for Licensed Professional Counselors.
- Engages in continuing education and professional development to maintain licensure and competency.
- Performs other related duties assigned in support of Counseling Services and the university mission.
- Other related duties, as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, or Social Work, from an accredited institution.
- Licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
- 3 years of relevant clinical counseling experience
Licenses/Certifications
- Must hold a licensure recognized by the Mississippi State Board of Examiners for Licensed Professional Counselors or Social Workers within the timeframe required by the university.
- Must maintain active licensure and required continuing education throughout employment.
