This full-time (40 hours per week) Psychologist position at the Psychological Clinic (Psych Clinic) at the Mary A. Rackham Institute (MARI) offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the Psych Clinic's clinical service and training programs. You will have two primary roles at the Psych Clinic: (1) clinical training and supervision for psychology and social work trainees, and (2) direct clinical services to adult clients at the Psych Clinic (psychotherapy as well as options for psychoeducational and/or ASD assessment). We are looking for applicants who would be able to provide and supervise Couples Therapy services as well as psychotherapy services for common adult mental health concerns. The preferred start date for this position is August 1, 2026.

You should have a strong background in evidence-based clinical service and experience providing clinical supervision. Additionally, you should have significant clinical experience with evidence-based Couples Therapy interventions. Other areas of clinical expertise that would be desirable in a candidate include: psychotherapy tailored for neurodivergent individuals, members of the LGBTQIA+ or BIPOC communities, mood disorders, and/or prenatal and perinatal mental health concerns. We desire but do not require that you work from theoretical frameworks that complement our clinical senior staff team. These desired frameworks include: Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Family Systems approaches, and/or Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). Experience with testing for ADHD, Learning Disabilities, and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder testing is also desired but not required.

The responsibilities of this position include:

  • Individual supervision of psychology post-doctoral fellows, interns, and practicum students treating a range of common adult mental health conditions as well as Couples Therapy group supervision of psychology and social work trainees. Supervision duties include:
    • Monitor clinical care of clients seen by supervisees
    • Structure activities of the supervisee to help ensure the provision of competent services
    • Facilitate trainees' professional development
    • Provide formative and summative evaluation of the supervisee's clinical work and professional behavior
  • Conduct consultation appointments for potential Couples Therapy clients as needed
  • Provide direct clinical services to clients
  • Provide seminar presentations for clinical trainees
  • Participate in agency planning and initiatives
  • Engagement in and program development around the Psych Clinic's community outreach and collaborative research activities

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology or a closely related field from an APA-accredited program
  • Completed internship from an APA-approved site
  • Full Michigan licensure as a Psychologist (or fully licensed as a Psychologist by start date)
  • Demonstrated training and clinical experience providing Couples Therapy and clinical work with a range of presenting problems common to community-based mental health clinics
  • Clinical supervisory experience
  • Experience with telebehavioral health and electronic medical records
  • 2-5 years of post-doctoral clinical experience is strongly preferred, but we will consider exceptional applicants completing their post-doctoral fellowship by July 2026

MARI is looking for an individual who is willing to make a multiple-year commitment to being part of our team. This position is structured as a 12-month, term-limited appointment, which would be anticipated to be extended beyond the 12-month period, barring significant concerns related to job performance or fiscal sustainability.

Note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
