Counselor
Job Summary
Counselors are full time Faculty who provide personal and educational counseling services to MCC’s diverse student population to aid in student retention. They provide referral, outreach, and connections with campus and community resources to support students. Counselors provide consultation to the campus community (faculty, staff, and administration) and student crisis intervention when needed. Counselors provide presentations and workshops to the campus and local community to aid in student retention and outreach.
Final compensation offer will be determined, based on various factors, such as academic credentials, relevant work and instructional experience.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Knowledge of internal and external referral services
- Experience counseling individuals and/or groups related to personal and educational issues
Essential Functions
- Triage and referral of students to social services, community and government support agencies and other internal and external resources
- Provide personal and educational counseling services to individual students from diverse backgrounds
- Crisis intervention for students
- Provide support to at-risk students
- Involvement in district Behavioral Intervention Team/Cares Team
- Provide consultation to faculty, staff, and administration
- Document student meetings in MCCKC system
- Participate in campus and district committees to support MCCKC’s mission
- Develop and provide outreach, workshops, presentations, and referral resources to internal and external audiences
- Serve as a liaison between the College and community resources
