Job Summary
This position is responsible for the construction, configuration, and maintenance of Degree Audit, Degree Planner, and Curriculum rules and systems. The analyst analyzes and evaluates complex CSU/CSULB curriculum and policies, including General Education, to ensure they are accurately reflected in campus-wide tools, spanning from a student's admission to graduation. This includes developing and applying curriculum rules within university tools, including testing and validation of the results. Additionally, the analyst will document, troubleshoot, and resolve issues to ensure accuracy and reliability, and evaluate and apply upgrades and fixes related to campus functionality.
Furthermore, the incumbent provides services that are equitable, inclusive, and culturally sensitive to enhance the quality of campus life. This position uses a student-centered and equity-minded approach in all communication and service efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Degree Audit and Planner Building: Construct, configure, and maintain Degree Audit and Planner systems.
- Curriculum Rule-Building: Construct, configure, and maintain curriculum rules (courses, transfer credit, etc.).
- Monitoring and Maintaining Accuracy: Monitor and sustain in-depth expertise regarding current CSU/CSULB policies and curriculum, including but not limited to all majors, premajors, minors, certificates, credential, General Education, and major declaration requirements.
- On-line System Testing: Test new releases developed by Oracle, Chancellor's Office, third-party vendors, etc. as they relate to university systems and reporting.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated ability to understand academic curriculum, with its myriad majors and options and its complex set of General Education requirements. Perform analysis, testing, and documentation to maintain and expand the scope of the advising tools in order to meet the business needs of the university. Ability to use PeopleSoft tools to effect the curriculum revisions promulgated by Academic Affairs is preferred. Experience updating, analyzing and interpreting data using information databases. Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply academic and administrative policies and procedures. Demonstrated ability to analyze and evaluate situations and data, make accurate recommendations on appropriate course of action.
Ability to analyze user needs and translate into appropriate complex rules in support of business processes. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve system-related problems. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment handling competing demands, prioritize tasks, and deliver results with minimal supervision is required. Demonstrated ability to communicate and to establish and maintain successful working relationships with Enrollment Services leadership, peers, faculty and students within a diverse campus community. Treats all customers (students, faculty and staff colleagues) with dignity and respect, empathy, fairness and professionalism, consistent with the university mission, values and strategic vision. Ensures operational integrity and continuity by maintaining detailed descriptions of responsibilities, ranging from daily tasks to strategic activities and outcomes, and makes them available to supervisor. Ensures quality, usability and integrity of system data by working within approved processes and testing procedures.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Education and Experience
Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in related field and two years of related work experience required.
Physical Summary
Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

Compensation
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.
Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $4,799 (Step 1) - $5,195 (Step #5) per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.
CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $4,799 (Step 1) - $6,992 (Step 20) per month.
1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.
Duration of Appointment
This is a temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
