Director of Experiential Education – School of Pharmacy
POSITION SUMMARY:
This administrative and professional position is situated in the Office of Experiential Education, Division of Pharmacy Practice, School of Pharmacy. The Director of Experiential Education reports to the Pharmacy Practice Division Head and is responsible for managing the Experiential Education Curriculum, Policies, and Procedures in accordance with ACPE Standards and Guidelines.
Some travel as well as occasional evening and/or weekend work is required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops and implements Experiential Education Curriculum, Policies, and Procedures in accordance with ACPE Standards and Guidelines.
- Assures compliance with all ACPE standards and guidelines related to Experiential Education.
- Oversees Implementation and maintenance of Affiliation Agreements for all rotation sites.
- Organizes, administers and oversees APPE and IPPE rotation selection/assignment/re-assignment processes and follow up.
- Manages and oversees rotation requirements (e.g., Health, Criminal Background Checks, Site specific, Intern Licensing, HIPAA Compliance, etc.)
- Develops and maintains relationships with sites and preceptors.
- Manages and oversees maintenance of preceptor pool.
- Develops and oversees Preceptor Development programs and strategies.
- Develops, implements, and oversees Quality Assurance Plans and Policies (Site and Preceptor).
- Performs and oversees Experiential Rotation site visits and evaluations.
- Plans, creates and maintains Experiential Budget.
- Maintains Experiential Education database software.
- Courses: CPD 7, 8.
- Committees: Participate on Curriculum, Assessment, and Educational Technology committees.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum qualifications:
Doctor of Pharmacy or other advanced master’s or doctoral degree from an accredited institution and will hold an active pharmacist license.
Previous or current experience in an Experiential Education Office.
Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Previous teaching, precepting, and or residency/fellowship experience is highly desirable.
The candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the University Community.
