PRIMARY FUNCTION

Under the moderate direction of a supervisor, performs general cleaning duties within dormitories, offices and other public facilities areas.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to follow both verbal and written directions. Ability to interact with customers (students, faculty, administration), co-workers, and supervisors in a positive and helpful manner. Must be able to climb ladders, to bend and reach, and to lift (up to 60 lbs.)

Duties and Responsibilities

TYPICAL JOB DUTIES

• Pick up and dispose of trash, to include the proper handling of recyclable materials.
• Dusts, sweeps, and/or dry mops.
• Wet mops and/or spot mops.
• Operates walk-behind or ride-on floor machine, wet vac, & carpet extractor. - Cleans glass: - All inside areas that can be safely reached.
• All entrance glass, including doors, inside and out.
• Sanitizes washrooms, showers, and toilet facilities (dormitories only).
• Fills all dispensers in restrooms.
• Vacuums and cleans carpets and walk-off mats. - Washes walls, woodwork, light fixtures, inside of windows, and other glass.
• Removes snow and ice and cleans and/or picks up debris, such as leaves and paper, around entrances and fire exits (including fire escapes [dormitories only]) from the steps, and from the steps and walkways (generally distanced of ten feet or less) leading to buildings.
• Reports to immediate supervisor or to work control damage and/or malfunction of equipment observed within assigned areas.
• Performs other duties assigned within the normal scope of the department's responsibilities and the individual's capabilities.

Minimum Qualifications

H.S. Diploma or equivalent
