Dance Instructor (Part-time Faculty - IVC)
Dance Instructor (Part-time Faculty - IVC)
The Irvine Valley College (IVC) Dance Department offers a high-quality, comprehensive dance program that serves the current and future learning needs of our diverse community. Our mission is grounded in four core pillars: Communicate, Create, Perform, and Educate. We are committed to providing an inclusive and supportive environment that encourages both technical and artistic growth.
The department offers multiple academic and professional pathways, including: Associate of Arts (AA) in Dance, Certificate of Achievement in Commercial Dance, Certificate of Proficiency in Dance Technique, and Certificate of Proficiency in Mind Body Therapy.
The curriculum provides a broad range of technique courses, including ballet, modern, jazz, tap, ballroom, Middle Eastern and African dance, and aerial arts. In addition, students engage in dance science courses such as Pilates, conditioning and correction, yoga, and GYROKINESIS®, as well as academic courses in choreography, dance history, and dance appreciation.
Performance opportunities are central to the student experience. The department supports two ensembles: Performing Dance Ensemble (PDE) for intermediate and advanced dancers seeking a pre-professional company experience, and Dance Rehearsal and Performance (R&P) Group for dancers of all levels and genres.
Students regularly participate in regional and national festivals and conferences that showcase advanced student work, including events such as the American College Dance Association (ACDA), Red Rock Dance Festival, Palm Springs International Dance Festival, and Alabama Dance Festival.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative and dynamic department consisting of two full-time and seven part-time faculty members, housed within the School of the Arts. We are looking for a colleague who is committed to student success, passionate about dance education, and eager to contribute to the continued growth of the program.
