Data Analyst
Position Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Data Analyst for the Institute for Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research within the Center for Pharmacoepidemiology and Treatment Science (PETS) within the Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences(RBHS). The primary purpose of the Data Analyst is to support various quantitative research and academic projects focused on substance use and mental health treatment need, use, and related outcomes across the life course. Projects include examining multi-level drivers of health and other exposures of interest, particularly exposure to policies and the criminal legal system.
Key Duties
- Conduct data acquisition, processing, coding, cleaning, and linkages of multi-level longitudinal datasets
- Perform quantitative multivariate analyses and appropriate methodologies to support research team. Approaches include application of survey methodology, multi-level regression analyses, longitudinal data analyses, and spatial methods
- Create figures, tables, slides, data management reports, and conference presentation materials
- Interpret findings derived from analyses of large datasets and perform sensitivity analyses using tools like R, GIS, SQL, and Stata
- Apply data visualization techniques to present findings and insights effectively, aiding in the interpretation and communication of results to stakeholders.
- Designs and implements data verification audits and coordinates with schools to resolve any issues. Assist in efforts to ensure data Quality Assurance (QA) processes are effectively implemented, maintaining the integrity and accuracy of research data
- Contribute to research manuscripts and grants, draft abstracts, methods, and results sections.
- Participates in the testing, migration and implementation of new software.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, IT, Data Analysis or relevant field. Plus 3 years of full-time experience in Data Analysis, Computer Science, Statistics, Public Health, Biostatistics or relevant field. Equivalent experience, training, or education, in and 1 year of experience in the in relevant fields may be substituted for the Bachelor's Degree requirement. Proficiency in R and experience working with quantitative data management and analysis are essential.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: No significant physical demands aside from routine office work in an office work environment. Visual acuity to perform activities such as: viewing a computer terminal, reading, analyzing written information/data, etc. Must be able to exert force up to 35 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT: No significant exposures or noise levels. Office /Laboratory/Clinical environment.
