About the Role:
Curtin University is seeking a Data Analyst to join the People Technology and Analytics team within People and Culture. This role plays a key part in delivering workforce insights that support operational decision-making across the University.
Working under broad direction, you will develop and deliver high-quality reporting, dashboards and data insights, and partner with stakeholders to translate workforce data into meaningful information that drives outcomes.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Deliver accurate, timely workforce reporting, dashboards and data visualisations
- Extract, integrate and analyse data from multiple systems using tools such as SQL and Power BI
- Translate business requirements into reporting and analytical outputs
- Identify trends, patterns and data quality issues, providing actionable insights
- Develop and enhance self-service dashboards to support leaders
- Support data quality, validation and exception reporting processes
- Provide guidance to stakeholders on interpreting and using data
- Contribute to continuous improvement of reporting processes, definitions, and practices
Who we are looking for/Selection Criteria:
You are a detail-oriented and analytical professional with the ability to turn complex data into clear and actionable insights. You enjoy working with stakeholders and supporting evidence-based decision-making.
To be successful, you will have:
- A degree in a quantitative discipline or equivalent experience
- Experience in data extraction, manipulation and analysis
- Strong skills in SQL and data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI or similar)
- Advanced Excel capability
- Well-developed analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Experience supporting stakeholders with reporting and data insights
Desirable:
- Experience with HR or workforce data
- Experience in a large or complex organisation, ideally within higher education
- Exposure to tools such as Python or R
Role Requirements:
- As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered
