Location: Lisbon, Portugal (Hybrid – 2 days/week in the office, with flexibility)

About Us
The Associação para Investigação e Desenvolvimento da Faculdade de Medicina (AIDFM) is a non-profit scientific and technological association that aims to foster initiatives to support the link between activities, such as education, training and research in the fields of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.
AIDFM has a biostatistics and data management team based at the Faculdade de Medicina, Universidade de Lisboa, dedicated to advancing health research through high-quality data science and analytical methodologies. We collaborate with the CHDI Foundation on projects that contribute to impactful scientific publications and evidence-based healthcare advancements.
We are seeking an experienced Data Management Specialist to join our growing team and play a key role in managing complex health-related datasets, ensuring data quality, and supporting cutting-edge research initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the management, validation, cleaning, and maintenance of large-scale health and research datasets.
- Design, implement, and optimize data management processes and quality control procedures.
- Develop reproducible workflows, data pipelines, and comprehensive documentation using R and other relevant tools.
- Ensure data integrity, consistency, security, and compliance with research and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate closely with biostatisticians, researchers, clinicians, and international partners.
- Support data analysis activities and contribute to the preparation of scientific reports.
- Provide guidance on data management best practices and promote continuous process improvement.

Skills/Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5–7 years of professional experience in data management, preferably within healthcare, clinical research, epidemiology, public health, or related fields.
- Strong expertise in managing large and complex datasets.
- Advanced proficiency in R, including data wrangling, data quality assessment, visualization, and workflow automation.
- Demonstrated experience implementing data governance, quality assurance, and documentation standards.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively in an international environment.
- Fluent English (written and spoken).
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Health Sciences, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Data Science or a related discipline.
- Experience working with research institutions, academic environments, healthcare organizations, or international health-focused projects.
- Knowledge of clinical, epidemiological, or real-world health data.
- Familiarity with reproducible research practices and collaborative development environments.
