About the Role:
The Curtin Strategy and Marketing team is seeking two Data Scientists who are driven by curiosity, strong critical thinking and a genuine desire to make a difference. In this role, you will analyse complex data and translate it into meaningful, actionable insights that support improved student access, participation, and outcomes across the University.
This opportunity will suit professionals with a strong analytical and problem-solving mindset, excellent communication skills, and a passion for working collaboratively to tackle complex, real-world challenges.
Working across all areas of the University, you will deliver advanced analytics, intelligence and strategic insights to support evidence-based decision-making. You will interrogate multiple datasets, partner with stakeholders to uncover insights, provide recommendations, and inform strategic planning and institutional priorities.
In this role, you will:
- Deliver advanced data analysis, insights and modelling initiatives across a range of strategic initiatives.
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand decision needs, define analytical problems, and identify opportunities where analytics can add value.
- Prepare, manipulate and analyse large and complex datasets to support advanced statistical analysis and modelling.
- Develop statistical, mathematical and optimisation models to generate clear, actionable insights and recommendations.
- Explore, analyse and visualise data, translating complex findings into compelling insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Conduct desktop research and external analysis to complement internal data sources and strengthen insights.
- Contribute to strategic and cross-functional projects that contribute to University-wide priorities.
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities to enhance service delivery and customer experience.

Who we are looking for:
- A degree in commerce, business, statistics, mathematics, computer science or another quantitative discipline, with substantial relevant experience. Higher degree experience desirable.
- Significant experience working with large and complex datasets.
- Strong skills in data science, statistical analysis, mathematical modelling and optimisation techniques.
- Proficiency in programming languages and visualisation tools.
- Demonstrated experience in data modelling, business analysis and data visualisation.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to tackle complex business challenges.
- A commercial and customer-focused mindset, with a passion for uncovering insights that drive action.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering accurate, high-quality work.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey and present technical findings clearly to diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work across a variety of projects.
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

This full time, continuing G07 level role attracts a remuneration from $106,093 - $113,913 + 17% superannuation.
