This position is continuing (contingent funded). The funding that supports this project has an expected end date of September 2030.

Position overview
Within the ANU College of Law, Governance and Policy, the Centre for Indigenous Economic Transformation (CIET) is an Indigenous-led national hub advancing First Nations economic self-determination through research, policy, partnerships and education.
Based at The Australian National University, CIET works with First Nations organisations, governments, industry and philanthropy to drive practical, systems-level change across areas including economic empowerment, capital access, trade and investment, clean-energy transition opportunities and Indigenous-led governance.
We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Senior Research Advisor to support the Centre’s applied research agenda during a significant growth phase.
The Role
Reporting to the Associate Director, Research and Engagement, you will help shape and deliver high-quality applied research that supports Indigenous economic empowerment and informs policy, practice and public debate.
The role will involve:
- leading and contributing to research projects and research translation activities
- conducting literature reviews, qualitative and quantitative analysis and evidence synthesis
- preparing research reports, briefing papers, publications and presentations
- supporting engagement and collaboration with First Nations organisations, researchers, governments and partner institutions
- contributing to research design, ethics processes, project coordination and reporting activities
- supporting the translation of research into practical policy and engagement outcomes
- contributing to workshops, consultations, roundtables and other research engagement activities
This is a strategic and hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working across research, engagement and systems-level change in a collaborative and purpose-driven environment.
About You
You are a thoughtful and highly capable research professional with strong analytical, communication and relationship-building skills.
You bring:
- experience undertaking applied research, policy research or evidence-based analysis
- strong analytical and written communication capability
- experience preparing high-quality reports, briefings or research outputs
- sound organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- the ability to work collaboratively across research, policy and stakeholder environments
- cultural integrity and experience working respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and organisations
Experience working in Indigenous policy, economic development, public policy, academia or social impact settings will be highly regarded.
