The Dean of the Harrison College of Business and Computing (HCBC) will be an innovative leader who can provide strategic vision and direction for the college. Serving as the chief administrative officer and academic leader of the college, the Dean sets long-term goals for academic excellence and operational effectiveness, working closely with faculty, staff, and students to cultivate a collaborative environment. The Dean champions innovation in teaching, research, and community engagement, while also fostering partnerships within and beyond the university. The Dean will be someone who takes an entrepreneurial approach to the development of new academic programs and the delivery of existing programs, with a strong focus on experiential learning. The Dean ensures the college's programs and initiatives align with both college and broader institutional priorities, positioning the college to adapt successfully to changes in the business and information technology sectors.

The Harrison College of Business and Computing

The college is comprised of four departments: Accounting, Economics, and Finance; Computer Science; Management; and Marketing. Within the college, over 60 faculty and staff members provide instruction, supervision, and service to approximately 1,200 undergraduate majors and 300 graduate students. The college's programs emphasize a combination of classroom learning and hands-on experiences. Additionally, the College encompasses several centers and specialized labs such as the Institute for Cybersecurity, the Stamp Cyber Command Center, the Hospitality Management Lab, the Marketing Lab, the Douglas C. Greene Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and the Bill and Jeanie Stewart Finance Lab. The HCBC also offers students access to international business opportunities and study abroad programs through a wide range of partnerships and collaborations with businesses and universities worldwide.

The business programs within the Harrison College of Business and Computing are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Programs within the college are also recognized or accredited by the Network of International Business Schools (NIBS), ABET, the US National Security Agency (NSA), the US Department of Homeland Security, and the Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration (ACPHA).

Required Qualifications

  • An earned doctorate in a business discipline or in computer science/cybersecurity, that is represented in one of the college's academic departments, from a regionally accredited University or internationally accredited/government-certified university
  • Record of accomplishment consistent with appointment as a tenured, full professor in one of the departments in the college
  • Distinguished teaching experience and a record of scholarly achievement
  • Significant administrative and leadership experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to principles of collegiality and shared governance
  • Demonstrated capacity to cultivate and enhance relationships across a diverse spectrum of businesses and industries
  • Demonstrated ability to acquire external resources through fundraising, grants, and contracts
  • Evidence of strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in managing and strategically using budgets
  • Strong background in advocacy for a variety of stakeholders, including alumni, donors, students, faculty, and staff
