Dean - School of Nursing
Job Responsibilities:
The Dean has responsibilities in the following areas:
- Provide visionary and strategic direction for the School of Nursing in alignment with the University's mission, vision, and values.
- Oversee the development, delivery, and evaluation of high-quality and innovative academic programs that meet the needs of diverse learners and the changing healthcare environment.
- Ensure compliance with all accreditation standards and regulations for the School of Nursing and its programs.
- Recruit, mentor, and evaluate faculty and staff, and support their professional development and scholarly activities.
- Manage the budget and resources of the School of Nursing in a fiscally responsible and transparent manner.
- Represent and advocate for the School of Nursing in various forums and committees at the University, College, local, state, and national levels.
- Engage in fundraising, alumni relations, and community outreach activities to enhance the visibility and reputation of the School of Nursing.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with the administration of the University, College, other divisions or departments within the institution, related facilities, and the community.
- Facilitate the development of long-range goals and objectives for the nursing programs.
- Maintain current knowledge of requirements pertaining to the nursing program and licensure.
- Complete any additional duties as assigned by the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College of Health Professions.
Job Requirements:
The candidate shall:
- Possess an earned doctorate in nursing or a related field from an accredited institution
- Hold a current and unencumbered Registered Nurse and Family Nurse Practitioner license to practice in the Commonwealth of Kentucky
- Verify practice as a Registered Nurse for a minimum of 5 years
- Exhibit a record of distinguished teaching, scholarship, and service in nursing education
- Show a minimum of five years of progressive academic leadership experience in nursing education
- Provide evidence of success in curriculum development, program evaluation, accreditation, and assessment.
- Display effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrate a history of employee excellence.
Compensation: Commensurate with education and experience.
