Position Summary
Reporting to the Vice Chair for Research, the Primary Care Research Administrator is a key player within the Department of Family Medicine, Primary Care Research Institute. The Department Administrator will work closely with the Director of Finance in managing the portfolio of funded projects within PCRI in addition to providing HR management for the Institute.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assist with pre and post award grant management functions across the Institute including development support, monitoring, reconciliation, compliance and financial processing. Manage electronic payment requests (via ShopBlue system) and process Independent Contractor and Personal Service Agreements, and other post-award tasks as needed.
- Oversee the Institute’s Human Resources needs, such as processing related personnel transactions (appointments, changes, etc.), and serving as Hiring Manager (job descriptions, posting, recruiting, interview process, onboarding arrangements, and annual review process).
- Provide critical administrative support for the Institute, such as the procurement of equipment, inventory, and service contracts, as well as fiscal monitoring and reconciliation functions including approval and verification of State (IFR) and monthly Amex grant-related transactions.
- Develop policies with the assistance of the Director of Finance, Vice Chair for Research and the Director of Development.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field and 3 or more years’ experience in business administration, research administration, grants management, or related field. Education and experience requirements may be satisfied by a combination of education and experience.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and proactively follow up on issues without direction.
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills including the ability to understand, interpret, and apply policies and regulations and provide guidance and recommendations to others. Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with diverse populations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with University at Buffalo policies, procedures, and systems (e.g., Concur, UB Jobs, ShopBlue, SIRI, RF SUNY Reporting).
- Experience working in research administration or post-award financial management, preferably in higher education or research settings
Salary Range
$60,000 - $75,000
