Department of Music, Assistant Professor of Music Therapy
To lead our Bachelor of Music undergraduate program in Music Therapy as program director and professor. This position will include program development, as our program is in its initial stages, as well as liaison responsibilities with sites (and practitioners) in the Inland Empire and San Bernardino County that provide music therapy. This position is thus both student-facing and community-facing, and will involve student advising and recruiting responsibilities, as well as oversight for music therapy clinical fieldwork and internships. Along with teaching and program-building, this position also supports active involvement in research and professional scholarship.
TYPICAL ACTIVITIES
- Lead and continue to develop CSUSB's new BA in Music Therapy program
- Develop the BA in Music Therapy curriculum as needed
- Teach undergraduate courses in music therapy, as well as additional courses in the Department of Music as needed
- Recruit and advise all music therapy students
- Coordinate and supervise internships and clinical fieldwork in music therapy
- Serve as liaison with clinical supervisors and internship site supervisors, creating and maintaining these relationships
- Attend all department faculty meetings and serve on departmental, college, and university committees
- Maintain membership in the American Music Therapy Association
- Maintain active involvement in research and professional scholarship
- Other duties as assigned
Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty, staff and students across a wide range of disciplines.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Evidence of strong professional clinical and supervision experience
- Successful teaching experience at the university level
- An active publication record in scholarship/research
- Participation in regional and/or national professional organizations
- Membership in the American Music Therapy Association
- Evidence of commitment to diversity in teaching, research, and clinical practice
- Excellent interpersonal, musical, and communication skills, both written and verbal
Evidence of scholarly activity, publication, and innovation is valued. Evidence of exemplary undergraduate-level teaching and leadership experience at the program level is preferred and should be noted in application.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in hand by time of appointment
- Master's Degree in Music Therapy required;
- Music Therapy Board Certification (MT-BC) required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. in Music Therapy
Evidence of scholarly activity, publication, and innovation is valued. Evidence of exemplary graduate-level teaching and leadership experience at program level is preferred and should be noted in application.

SALARY
Salary is commensurate with experience.
Assistant Professor (Range 3) - $6,221 - $13,224
Associate Professor (Range 4) - $6,825 - $14,523
Professor (Range 5) - $8,593 - $15,211
