Teaching Associate (TA): Responsible for providing classroom and/or laboratory instruction for introductory Spanish courses, making assignments to students, preparing course materials, administering examinations, assessing student performance, tutoring students and determining course grades. Also, incumbents may assist faculty with field experience, supervision, simulation exercises and/or research projects.

JOB SUMMARY
The Department of World Languages and Literatures invites applications for the position of Teaching Associate (TA) for introductory Spanish courses.
TYPICAL ACTIVITIES
The TA will be responsible for teaching one introductory Spanish course, preparing weekly lessons, holding office hours, evaluating student work, proctoring examinations, maintaining/submitting student records (e.g. grades), evaluating student assignments, and performing other tasks as assigned. Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty, staff and students across a wide range of disciplines.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Spanish (or related discipline)
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Spanish (or related discipline)
- Degree in hand by time of appointment (Bachelor's degree in Spanish or related discipline)
- Prior coursework/training in language teaching (SPAN 6615 or the equivalent)
- Currently enrolled as a graduate student at CSUSB
- Must maintain academic eligibility throughout employment period (3.0 GPA or higher)
- Must be able to work cooperatively with faculty, staff and other students
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Teaching experience
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment. Following a conditional offer of employment, a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work with CSUSB.
