Job Summary:
The Sport Club Professional Intern at the University of Wisconsin–Madison will acquire comprehensive experience in campus recreation and leadership through active involvement in program administration, advising, and the evaluation of personnel and club financial requests. The intern will also collaborate with a range of departments beyond Sport Clubs including Intramural Sports, Marketing, Finance, Operations, Facilities & Grounds, Scheduling & Events, and Wellbeing to support the overall success of the program. Throughout the appointment, the intern will also serve as a representative of University Recreation & Wellbeing to the UW–Madison campus and the broader community.
- Assist with the supervision, management, and mentorship of 6 student leads.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate 50+ student supervisors.
- Assist with Outdoor Operations of the Sport Clubs Program
- Assist with the overall management of comprehensive campus recreation softwares; InnoSoft Fusion, DoSportsEasy, SubItUp.
- Collaborate with other departments at Rec Well such as Intramural Sports, Finance, etc.
- Serve as a liaison to select sport clubs, including all aspects of club oversight such as risk management, inventory, waiver collection, website update, monthly officer meetings, and priority points tracking system.
- Maintain daily office hours to assist with administrative duties including answering phone calls and e-mail correspondence, stocking first aid kits with proper supplies, record retention and filing, and customer service.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Develops targeted communication plans and materials based on established goals
- Prepares and monitors budgets and purchases expenditures as needed
- Coordinates logistics for events and programs
- Assists in implementing the staffing resource allocation plan including hiring, training, and supervision
- Identifies, proposes, and implements new or revised operational policies and procedures
- Engages in the Rec Well professional internship development curriculum, all staff meetings, divisional committees, and other professional development responsibilities and opportunities.

Compensation: $22.50/Hour
Work Schedule: Typical working hours between 9a-4p. Some night and weekend hours may be required. Average of 30 hours/week
Academic Professional Internship Information:
- Internships are limited-time employments lasting 9 months or 1,040 total hours.
- Internship dates are approximate and will run mid-August 2026 to May 2027.
Education:
- HS Diploma – Required
- Bachelor's Degree - Achieve or advancing towards Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field. Cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 2.75
