The Role

The Knowledge Mobilisation (KM) Deputy Director will be part of the leadership of our NIHR Knowledge Mobilisation programme. The deputy director will play a pivotal role in supporting the growth and implementation of the programme’s research and operational strategies.

The appointed Knowledge Mobilisation Deputy Director will work with Professor Myron to create, evaluate, and support the Knowledge Mobilisation programme, and will be responsible for delivering the Knowledge mobilisation Fellows evaluation, publications, securing further high-status funding, and ensuring demonstrable progress throughout the programme. This will include providing strategic direction for the Knowledge Mobilisation Fellows, engaging with the other NIHR ARC Knowledge Mobilisation Leads and Fellows across England, and attending national meetings.

The Knowledge Mobilisation Deputy Director role is integral to the NIHR’s mission, acting as a catalyst for change by ensuring research findings are effectively mobilised into practice, implemented in healthcare settings, thereby improving patient outcomes, reducing health inequalities, and contributing to the overall enhancement of health and care services.

The Person

Requirements for the post holder include:

  • Experience of successful track record in implementing research findings into practice within health and care services.
  • A PhD in a relevant field.
  • Experience of research leadership and designing, obtaining funding and delivering large scale programmes of research in health and social care.
  • Ability to engage, foster collaborations with, and understand the perspectives and priorities of a wide range of health and care professionals, researchers, patients and public bodies, and other relevant organisations including industry and third sector organisations.
  • Ability to influence and shape the practice of health and care delivery implementation programmes and ensure they are responsive to the needs of local populations in NW London and nationally.
  • Experience of working as partnership with the NHS and social care in implementing changes to health services and health improvement programmes, and research impact.
  • Experience of leading research teams and successful PhD supervision
