Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.
  • Two years of experience conducting discrimination and sexual harassment investigations within an Equal Opportunity Office, Title IX Office, Human Resources, or related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience handling complex situations, including responding to parties sensitively and confidentially, tracking multiple cases, meeting various deadlines, maintaining neutrality, working well under stress, and performing duties impartially and confidentially throughout the investigation process.
  • Understanding of community partner organizations.
  • Microsoft Office software suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook; and standard office equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited university.
  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
  • Experience with Maxient or other similar databases.
  • Experience in higher education working with faculty, staff, and student populations.

Job Description:

Supports the Assistant Vice President & Title IX Coordinator at Texas State University by managing and performing duties as they relate to grievances alleging discrimination, sexual misconduct, and retaliation.

Job Duties:

  • Assists with the coordination of the outreach and response (including supportive measures) and the prompt and equitable investigation and resolution of reports alleging discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, and/or retaliation according to university policies and procedures.
  • Prepares comprehensive investigation reports and summaries of all findings based upon an analysis of all relevant evidence gathered during the investigation and present investigative summaries to hearing panels and/or Appropriate Administrative Officers in accordance with university policies and procedures.
  • Oversees a case management database designed to organize, manage, and track incidents related to sexual misconduct, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation; analyzes the data from the database; identifies systemic problems relating to complaints and develops new initiatives, revises current initiatives, revises policies, and/or redesigns current processes.
  • Supervises internal or external investigators to support the education, investigation, and/or resolution process.
  • Collaborates with the Office of General Counsel and Human Resources regarding investigations.
  • Designs, coordinates, and delivers targeted training programs and outreach strategies that increase visibility and raise awareness of rights, responsibilities, and resources related to discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, retaliation, applicable university policies, and other institutional compliance program content to the campus community, including students, faculty, and staff.
  • Stays current with policy and procedural changes that will affect the scope or practice of case management, as well as completes training and professional development related to applicable laws, policies, and regulations.
  • Prepares and disseminates educational materials, including brochures, posters, and web-based materials that inform members of the campus community of their rights and responsibilities under state and federal laws.
  • Assists in preparing reports as necessary to comply with State and Texas State System requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
