Job Description:
Summary:
In this position, you will support the Kogod School of Business Student Development team with event coordination, student engagement initiatives, and administrative support. The ideal candidate will be a current graduate student with strong organizational, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills.
This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop leadership and professional skills while making a meaningful impact on the student experience for Kogod students. Additional duties include general event support, which may require flexibility for evenings and weekends.
Essential Functions:
- Assist in planning, execution, and assessment of events including new student orientation, various cultural and educational programs, and support of clubs, case competition, digital badging, and more.
- Collaborate with other Kogod and AU offices/departments for student engagement programs.
- Conduct informational tabling in the Kogod building to promote events and resources.
- Support student outreach efforts through email, social media, and other outlets.
- Assist with the management of the Kogod Connect platform (Suitable app).
- Add and update events and activities.
- Develop and update badges and achievement systems.
- Attend weekly Student Development team meetings.
- Support special projects at the request of the Associate Director.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
- Part-time.
- 7 - 10 hours per week.
Salary Range:
- $17.95 - $18.50 per hour.
Required Education and Experience:
- Must be a current undergraduate student at American University in good academic standing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and social media platforms.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work independently/collaboratively and manage multiple tasks.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Enrolled in a Kogod academic program.
- Enrolled through Spring 2027.
- Experience using Canva and/or the Kogod Connect (Suitable) platform.
