Didactic Adjunct Faculty - Doctor of Optometry
Description
The School of Optometry seeks an adjunct faculty member to deliver high quality learning experiences and education for students in the Doctor of Optometry program. The faculty member will engage in teaching laboratories and works collaboratively with colleagues in the School of Optometry as well as with the Dean. Additionally, the incumbent provides mentorship to students and contributes to the visibility, impact and reputation of the University and its programs. The successful candidate will assist in teaching the Low Vision laboratory course and the OTM1 laboratory course in the Fall Semester of the OD curriculum.
- Deliver in-person didactic laboratory instruction in the School of Optometry
- Maintain advanced knowledge in discipline and areas of expertise
- Provide engaging laboratory assignments that demonstrate the real-world applications of concepts covered in the lecture course
- Grade laboratory assignments and post laboratory grades via the university's Learning Management System.
- Advise and assist students through office hours or scheduled appointments, by phone or email, and through other university-approved mechanisms.
Requirements
Required:
- Doctor of Optometry degree required from an ACOE-accredited institution
- Residency training is desired
- Minimum of two years' work experience in clinical optometric practice if the applicant is not residency-trained
- Commitment to graduate and/or professional education and student success
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Must be able to work independently and effectively interact with a wide array of parties at all levels (students, faculty, administration/staff)
- Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment
