Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Director is responsible for the strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of the adult education program across both campuses and external sites within the tri-county area. The position ensures alignment with institutional goals as well as federal and state requirements, while promoting student success, measurable skill gains, credential attainment, and transitions to post-secondary education or employment. The Director takes an innovative approach to implementing and integrating adult education programs into the workforce and academic programs. This position collaborates with college departments, community organizations, and workforce partners to strengthen Integrated Education and Training (IET) models and develop career pathways that support adult learners in overcoming barriers and achieving long-term educational and career advancement. Responsibilities include overseeing the development and delivery of program courses, managing staff, and ensuring compliance with institutional and grant requirements.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide leadership in developing and integrating programmatic strategic plans, goals, and objectives consistent with the institutional mission.
- Provide leadership for decision-making, problem-solving, and personnel management within the department.
- Provide leadership relating to student-related matters, including student complaints, faculty advising, and registration, and mediate conflicts and/or disagreements between employees and students.
- Oversee and provide strong leadership to coach, guide, and support program personnel.
- Provide leadership in curriculum improvement through constant review, regular evaluation, revision, and attention to the relevance of all courses and programs.
- Review and monitor expenditures and develop budgetary processes to ensure financial accountability.
- Prepare and maintain required institutional and grant documentation, reports, and records.
- Monitor and analyze student performance data to assess progress toward performance-based outcomes and ensure accountability for meeting performance metrics and addressing areas for improvement.
- Supervise the preparation of schedules, teaching assignments, and class and room assignments, and monitor enrollments to adjust for registration trends and fiscal demands.
- Organize departmental meetings and attend leadership, dean, and other assigned meetings.
- Review and update program processes on a regular basis to promote a culture of continuous improvement.
- Oversee the development and implementation of career pathways that lead to employment or transition to higher education.
- Work with underserved and under-skilled populations, addressing their unique needs and barriers to education and employment.
- Demonstrate the ability to address obstacles, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
- Collaborate with college departments to implement Integrated Education and Training (IET) models that support student transitions from adult education to higher education and the workforce.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with community-based organizations and educational institutions.
- Participate in accreditation procedures and activities through Institutional Effectiveness (IE) planning.
- Ensure program compliance with college policies and procedures, licensing/credentialing bodies requirements and regulations, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) principles.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Community Education, Associate Provost/South Campus Administrator, Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs, and President.
Qualifications/Certifications/Licenses/Skills

Required:
- Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Psychology, Sociology, or related field.
- A minimum of three years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role, including working with adult learners.
- Valid State drivers license.
Preferred:
- Masters degree in Business Administration or a related field.
- A minimum of five years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role, including working with adult learners, and knowledge in writing and managing grants.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- The Director requires a combination of strong leadership, communication, organizational, and analytical skills to support effective program management and collaboration with internal and external partners.
- Must be adaptable and resourceful, demonstrating the ability to think strategically, plan proactively, and apply sound problem-solving skills in response to changing needs, program challenges, and evolving student and workforce demands.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit.
The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch.

Work is performed in a standard office environment.
