Director / Alumni Engagement
Position Summary
Reporting to the deputy chief of alumni and constituent engagement, the director of alumni engagement is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing all events led by the Alumni Office, which includes managing event logistics, budgets, and communication. This position supervises two assistant directors and two associate directors, and an administrative office assistant in the Alumni Office.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Five years of experience, preferably in student programming, alumni relations, public relations, event management, hospitality services, or a related field.
- Experience working with volunteers and volunteer boards.
- Experience working with web-based platforms/applications.
- Experience managing events of all sizes and scope.
- Supervisory experience.
- Possession a valid driver’s license.
- Demonstrated ability to create strategic initiatives for achieving goals.
- Ability to become an approved driver under the university’s vehicle policy.
- Demonstrated ability to be detail oriented.
- Ability to travel and work evenings/weekends as needed.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Seven years of experience in student programming, alumni relations, public relations, event management, hospitality services, or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to use data for metrics and decision-making.
- Higher education experience.
- Experience working with a wide range of donors, volunteers and constituents.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervises the Alumni Engagement staff, consisting of five full-time employees.
- Works with the Deputy Chief of Alumni and Constituent Engagement to manage the day-to-day operations of alumni engagement, including budget and staffing, communications planning, engagement outreach, and events.
- Provides ongoing logistical and operational support to the university’s alumni board, and other volunteer structures as needed, providing resources and developing strategies for successful and meaningful volunteer engagement.
- Manages all alumni events, overseeing the coordination for prestigious alumni events.
- Oversees event management including marketing, promotions, and web-based platforms/applications.
- Ensures that the Alumni Engagement website contains current information, deadlines, and is consistent with the university brand.
- Serves as a liaison to academic units and campus partners.
- Manages assigned budgets.
- Represents the university and the Alumni Association.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
