About the Role

Swinburne University of Technology is seeking an exceptional academic leader to join our Education Innovation Exchange (EIX) team as Director, Educational Futures and Experiential Learning. This is a rare opportunity to play a defining role in reshaping how we deliver education and to drive Swinburne’s transformation agenda under Ad Astra_2030.

As the Director, you will provide academic leadership across curriculum transformation, experiential learning, industry embedded learning, digital pedagogies, assessment reform, and educator capability uplift - all central to delivering Swinburne’s next generation educational model.

You will work closely with academic and professional leaders across Schools, VET, central portfolios, and national and global partners to foster, develop and maintain an innovative and engaged learning and teaching culture at Swinburne. You will also contribute scholarly leadership, evidence-based innovation, and a strong research informed approach to designing the university’s future learning ecosystem and be responsible for leading a large and diverse team of academics to deliver strategic projects, research activities, innovative teaching activities and future focused engagement.

We are seeking a highly regarded academic leader in education innovation, learning and teaching, or higher education transformation, with a strong international profile and a passion for transforming education.

About You

To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Internationally recognised scholarly track record in educational leadership, curriculum innovation, experiential learning, digital pedagogy, or related areas.
  • Demonstrated capacity to influence education practice through research, scholarship or major innovation leadership.
  • Proven success leading large scale education reform or institution wide learning and teaching initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex, high impact projects.
  • Expertise in guiding organisational change, capability uplift and academic culture transformation.

Qualifications

  • A doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • Recognition as a leading authority in education innovation, learning and teaching, or higher education transformation.
