Here’s how you will support our mission The Director for Assessment Center provides leadership, strategic direction, and oversight for the College’s assessment and testing operations. This position ensures the delivery of high-quality, equitable, and secure testing services that support student access, placement, and success. The Director manages daily operations, supervises staff, oversees assessment technologies and processes, and ensures compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations. The Director collaborates with Instruction, Student Services and external partnerships to implement student-centered assessment and placement practices, integrates evidence-based strategies to support continuous improvement, and represents the College in statewide and community partnerships related to assessment and testing services.
This position reports to the Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Services & Registrar.
The salary range for this position is $73,012-$80,706.
This position is receiving applications until December 7, 2025 at 11:59 PM PST. The College will conduct initial interviews with selected candidates via Zoom and will conduct on-campus interviews with finalists.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction for the Assessment Center, including planning, organizing, supervising, and evaluating daily operations to ensure quality, security, and efficiency in all testing and placement services;
- Hire, train, mentor, and evaluate Assessment Center staff; foster professional growth, accountability, and a culture of continuous improvement aligned with College values and service excellence;
- Develop, manage, and monitor the departmental budget, ensuring efficient use of resources, accurate reporting, and compliance with fiscal policies and procedures;
- Oversee assessment technologies, software, and materials to ensure effective use, system integration, and adherence to data security and testing integrity standards;
- Collect, analyze, and interpret assessment data to inform placement decisions, support institutional research, and advance student success and equity initiatives;
- Collaborate with Instruction, Student Services, and external partners to implement equitable, student-centered assessment and placement practices, including the use of multiple measures and appropriate accommodations;
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional requirements related to testing security, ADA accommodations, FERPA, and accreditation standards;
- Serve as the College’s GED Chief Examiner and oversee the administration of other standardized and professional exams, ensuring compliance with vendor and state regulations;
- Represent the College on statewide committees, workgroups, and community partnerships related to assessment, placement, and testing services, maintaining strong relationships with K-12, higher education, and external testing partners;
- Provide leadership in planning and assessment by contributing to departmental and institutional goals, strategic planning efforts, and continuous process improvement initiatives; and
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an institutionally accredited college or university;
- One (1) or more years of experience supervising and coordinating department operations;
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and other technology applications to manage, analyze and report data;
- Two (2) or more years of experience using a student management or related management system; and
- Experience providing customer service and support to individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an institutionally accredited college or university;
- Two (2) or more years of experience supervising and coordinating department operations;
- Experience monitoring or managing departmental budgets;
- Experience with applicable testing measurements (i.e. GED, TEAS, ALEKS, etc.), test statistics, and data analyses; and
- Experience in Washington State community college system or related higher education experience.

Terms of Employment
This is a full-time, overtime-eligible, administrative staff position. The typical work hours for this position are Monday through Thursday 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.; however, work hours may vary due to work demands and some evening and weekend work may be required.
Successful candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Provide proof of lawful permanent residency or other appropriate work authorization as required by the Immigration Reform Control Act of 1986.
- Disclose any substantiated findings or any ongoing investigations related to sexual misconduct as required by RCW28B.112.080.
- Pass a criminal background check. Note: information learned during the criminal background check will not necessarily preclude employment but may be a factor in eligibility for the position.
- Verify education at the time of hire.
- Maintain an alcohol-free and drug-free workplace during employment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, bend, kneel, stoop, communicate, reach and manipulate objects. The position requires mobility including having the ability to move materials on a regular basis such as files, books, office equipment, etc. and travel between buildings on campus. Manual dexterity and coordination are required to operate equipment such as computer keyboard, calculator, and standard office equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Usual office working conditions. The noise level in the work area is typical of most office environments with telephones, personal interruptions and background noises.
