Director for Environmental Health & Safety
Provides strategic leadership and direction for university-wide EHS programs. This position serves as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies and oversees university-wide compliance. Develops and delivers various occupational safety trainings to a variety of campus customers. Oversee inspections of various building safety systems to ensure safety and regulatory compliance. Serves in a leadership capacity on the university emergency management team.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in environmental health, occupational safety or related scientific field.
- 10 years of work experience in an environmental health and or safety related role.
- At least 5 years of the above work experience must be in a leadership role
- RCRA certification
- FEMA ICS Certifications: 100,200, 700, 800 (or the ability to acquire within 1 year of hire)
- Public speaking and experience developing and delivering technical training to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated skill to communicate both verbally and written
- Excellent interpersonal and strategic communication skills to effectively lead, motivate and influence others.
- Familiarity with EPA and PA DEP environmental regulations
- Valid state issued driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in environmental health, occupational safety or related scientific field.
- 10 or more years of leadership experience in the environmental health and safety field.
- Experience with fire safety suppression systems
- Experience working in a higher education setting
- Familiarity with CLERY reporting requirements
