Job Description Summary

The Director of Infection Control and Comliance with Penn Dental Medicine's Office of Clinical Affairs is responsible for ensuring compliance and knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards through the stratification, implementation and management of an infection prevention control program.

Responsibilities

COMPLIANCE

  • Develop, implement, and manage an effective infection prevention and control program within Penn Dental Medicine (PDM) and its affiliated sites.
  • Conduct regular, ongoing assessments and surveillance of processes and protocols throughout PDM and its affiliated sites.
  • Monitor and oversee sterilization and disinfection activities, and compliance with patient related regulatory policies.
  • Provide policy interpretation, serving as knowledgeable and available resource. Communicates changes in infection control policy and related practices.
  • Manages and monitors administrative control and access to electronic health record system.

LEADERSHIP

  • Leads regulatory focused review, assessment and enhancements of infection control policies and protocols to identify and/or manage potential risks.
  • Prepare and deliver infection prevention presentations to Centers and departments. Educate and calibrate faculty, staff, students and patients on infection control protocols.
  • Oversees the School's central sterilization and dispensary departments; including, but not limited to, ensuring compliance and operational effectiveness.
  • In collaboration with local and state regulatory agencies, maintain knowledge on public health initiatives and issues of surrounding region.

ADMINISTRATIVE

  • Participates in developing communications and documents for employee, student and patient community education on infection control.
  • Perform ongoing surveillance, trend and data analysis, and reporting as required/requested to ensure compliance with national and state requirements.

OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

  • Provide and maintain expertise in innovative solutions focused on the responsible stewardship of Penn Dental Medicine and its community experience. Duties assigned will be to support the PDM community; including, but not limited to expectations of local, federal and state agencies.

Salary to commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in profession or relevant field of study
  • Minimum 5-7 years of relevant, progressive experience
  • Maintain current certification in Dental Infection Prevention and Control (CDIPC). Maintain knowledge of infection disease processes, dental operations, and patient care. Knowledge of electronic health record systems.
  • Maintain and incorporate scientific evidenced into the Infection Control practice. Ability to track and identify trends and/or gaps which require immediate response for priority setting.
  • Maintain all expectations of HIPAA.
  • Maintain expertise in cleaning, disinfection and sterilization.
