About the College of Southern Nevada

Founded in 1971 and situated in the greater Las Vegas metropolitan area, the College of Southern Nevada is the most ethnically diverse college in Nevada and the first to receive the HSI designation. Job Description

The Director of CSN Libraries is the administrative leader of the College of Southern Nevada Libraries.

The Director has administrative responsibility for the management, planning, and development of all library policies, services, budgets, and supervision of library personnel.

The Director is the primary advocate for the Libraries and has the responsibility of developing strong, collaborative relationships with associate vice presidents, academic deans, department chairs, faculty, and academic support services including eLearning, tutoring, advising, etc. to support teaching and information services, student learning, and to promote the College mission. And participates in public relations and development efforts on behalf of CSN Libraries.

Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Academic Success, the Director represents CSN and CSN Libraries to internal and external stakeholders, including NSHE, as needed. The Director serves as a member of the academic leadership team.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree from a regionally accredited Institution in Library Sciences (MLS).
  • 4 years comparable professional experience (academic libraries), comparable supervisory experience.
  • 2 years of supervisory/management experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Record of increasing administrative responsibilities in libraries.
  • Record of accomplishment in librarianship and services to the profession.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering and building a diverse workforce and to supporting staff development in support of the College's and the Library's goals of excellence and diversity.
  • Commitment to evidence-based decision making to improve library services.
  • Experience in budget management in an academic library.
  • Experience developing and implementing a strategic plan.
  • Ability to develop long-term collaborative and strategic relationships with other units of the college and library community.

The ideal candidate should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Understanding issues in academic librarianship and higher education, including a commitment to embracing innovative and inclusive polices, services and technologies.
  • Professional and pedagogical commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Ability to provide inclusive and collaborative management and leadership throughout all job duties.
  • Proficiency in the use of a personal computer and current software applications including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and Microsoft Teams.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Make decisions and take actions independently in a variety of diverse situations.
  • Show a high degree of creativity and initiative.

Salary Information
Administrative Faculty D - The starting salary is $103,901.

This position is contingent upon ongoing and available funding.
