Director of Campus Security, State Prog Admin Supervisor
Job Description
Plan, organize, direct and control the operations of the Campus Security operations within the Public Safety Department. In coordination with all members of the Department of Public Safety. Responsible for providing Campus Security services to SCSU to include response, event security, investigative support and liaise with law enforcement. Administers Campus Security budget and assures compliance with system, state and federal law. Responsible for data gathering for all reporting purposes, educating the campus and local law enforcement on Clery and other federal and state compliance matters and submitting and updating the ASR. Develop and implement a training plan for recruiting, coaching and evaluating full-time and student staff. Develops and directs department responses. Hires, directs and supervises, four full time and many student employees. Develops and maintains relationships with law enforcement and public safety agencies, serves as SCSU's liaison with external law enforcement personnel. Serves as day-to-day contact for university event planning, security awareness and education and coordinated response to assist employees, students and staff experiencing concerns.
Salary Range
$27.24 - $39.54/hourly
Minimum Qualifications
- An associate degree and three years' supervisory experience in a field related to law enforcement or security.
- Appreciation of the opportunity to serve and supervise within a culturally diverse community.
- Basic computer literacy to include MS Windows, MS Office suite and report writing skills.
- Understanding and skill in investigative techniques and able to teach them.
- Knowledge of electronic access control devices.
- Knowledge of the following:
- City of St. Cloud ordinances, State of Minnesota and federal criminal and civil law as it applies to University public safety.
- Police emergency response and emergency medical and safety procedures.
- Training and instruction principles.
- Clery Act. Student Right to Know and Campus Security Act.
- Principles of Incident Command -Principles of employee supervision
- Ability to motivate and accomplish work through others sufficient to provide supervision to staff.
- Good communication and human relations skills are essential for interviewing witnesses, victims, suspect; defusing conflicts and violent situations, providing information to the St. Cloud State University community.
- Valid Minnesota Driver's License
- Must pass criminal background check free from felony or misdemeanor convictions.
Preferred Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Experience working on a college or university campus in security
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Expert knowledge of Clery, VAWA and FERPA.
- Knowledge of Loss prevention concepts.
- Understanding of the FBI Uniform Crime Report.
- Basic Accounting and Financial Bookkeeping knowledge and experience

Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:30pm and on call
