Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) located in scenic Upstate NY is a multi-campus College with locations in Troy and Malta New York. HVCC offers more than 80 degree and certificate programs in three schools: Business and Liberal Arts; Health Sciences; and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).

Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Social Work, Higher Education Counseling, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university required. Must possess and maintain a current New York State license as a Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible post-licensure professional experience in counseling, mental health services, student development, or guidance services in a higher education setting required.
Nature and Scope of Duties:
- Provides visionary leadership, and direction for Counseling Services staff to effectively deliver services and initiatives that promote and support student mental health and development.
- Provides clinical and administrative supervision of Counseling Services staff and graduate student interns.
- Administrative responsibility for Counseling Services includes but is not limited to setting strategic vision and priorities, researching and implementing evidence-based practices, unit assessment, and budget preparation.
- Maintains awareness of and implements industry evidence-based practices, follows data trends, interprets professional journal research, technical procedures and regulations.
- In collaboration with other Student Development offices, develops and implements comprehensive counseling and wellness programs, presentations, events and outreach throughout the year.
- Delivers confidential individual and group counseling services, maintains accurate and compliant clinical documentation and provides leadership and support in crisis intervention and response.
- Cultivates collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders to support student needs, and partners with external agencies to coordinate and facilitate appropriate referrals.
- Refers students to appropriate academic and student affairs departments to provide guidance and support for students.
- Develops and facilitates ongoing training and consultation for faculty and staff on matters related to student development and mental health related concerns.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
This is a 12-month, Full-Time position with a starting salary of $75,000. Position will begin June 2026.
