Director of Financial Aid
Job Description Summary
The Director of Financial Aid reports directly to the Assistant Dean in OAA and is responsible for the management and oversight of all functions of the Nursing Financial Aid Office, including but not limited to, administration of all nursing financial aid programs, preparation of financial aid packages, management of scholarship distribution and delivery of funds to students. Administer and oversee all Doctoral and Post-doctoral financial support, including primary and secondary appointments. Develop and implement strategies for leveraging institutional financial aid dollars to meet the targeted enrollment goals of the school and ensure that budget projections are met. Responsible for conducting analysis, evaluation and reporting of financial aid budgets to determine effective and efficient utilization of financial aid resources. Manages all scholarship and loan forgiveness programs including the Leonard A. Lauder Community Care Nurse Practitioner Program, the J&J loan forgiveness program, the Sands Scholars Program, and the Amy Gutmann Leadership Program. Work collaboratively with Office of Academic Affairs, Office of Faculty Affairs, Office of Administration, Office of Nursing Research, Office of Institutional Advancement, Program & Track Directors, and University Student Financial Aid.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee and direct financial aid operations of the Nursing Financial Aid Office to provide leadership to meet the strategic goals of the School.
- Administer and manage a complex financial aid portfolio in compliance with all Federal and State regulations and University policies. Manage all new and existing scholarship programs.
- Administer and oversee all PhD and Post-doctoral financial student funding including primary and secondary appointments.
- Administer and manage a Merit-based financial aid program for MPN, MSN, MSNS, and DNP Programs.
- Manage the Financial Aid staff to meet the overall needs of the financial aid office.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required, master's preferred with 5-7 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to analyze financial data and allocate funds to meet strategic goals. Strong knowledge of financial aid processes, federal regulations including loans and work-study programs, and financial aid packing are required. Knowledge of the student experience in highly competitive programs a plus. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interface effectively with all levels; excellent organization skills with the ability to plan and manage multiple projects; able to work independently and as part of a team. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service and interact with diverse populations. Strong computing skills in MS Office. Prior knowledge of financial aid and billing systems, especially Banner preferred. Prior supervisory experience required.
