Director of IT Enterprise Services
Summary
The Director of Enterprise Services is responsible for the College's enterprise ecosystem including but not limited to the SIS/ERP, the enterprise server and storage infrastructure, enterprise cloud infrastructure, identity and access management, systems and data integrations, and various academic/business application systems. The position reports directly to the CIO and provides leadership for the IT Enterprise Services team and combines advanced technical knowledge with tactical and strategic leadership to ensure the efficiency, security, reliability, and continuous improvement of the institution's IT Enterprise Services.
Duties and Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop, supervise, motivate, and evaluate a strong staff with a focus on job commitment, excellence, professionalism, and group cohesion. Facilitate the work of the staff and make sure their work is performed in a coordinated and efficient manner.
- Direct the overall management and operation of all enterprise services, cloud infrastructure, and systems, which includes identifying problems and opportunities, providing functional and technical support, formulating solutions, conducting user training, and monitoring progress through completion.
- Prioritize and act on requests for assistance, special projects, and allocation of system resources. Plan and implement special projects assigned by other departments that may impact multiple departments within the enterprise.
- Direct and perform the day-to-day operational support (as needed) of the system administration duties of the enterprise systems.
- Provide relationship management to service and support partners.
- Ensure data integrity, system functionality and security, accurate reporting of data, proper user access and audit of access, and the availability of various utilities/tools provided within the systems.
- Provide guidance and assistance with application development, enterprise reporting, data conversions, and system integrations.
- Assist with the development and operational implementation of security policies and procedures in accordance with industry standards on data privacy, security, and regulatory compliance, with a specific focus on securing enterprise and cloud environments.
- Assist with the development, documentation, and testing of the disaster recovery plan for the College's enterprise services and processes.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of policies, procedures, knowledge base articles, and documentation aligned with best practices including ITIL and Operational Excellence principles.
- Serves as a role model of exemplary customer service to faculty, staff, students, and guests of the College by professionally and accurately using independent judgment to troubleshoot, diagnose, record, classify, correct, document, communicate, and close IT Service Requests, incidents, problems, or change requests.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Serves as a responsible and professional staff member by participating in ITS staff meetings and other functions (training of users, project meetings, and institutional activities); ensuring documentation is created in-line with current standards and is properly maintained according to established procedures and other documentation of main and remote locations.
- Assist with the preparation of ITS operational expense and capital budgets
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and implement service improvements, automation opportunities, and user experience enhancements.
- Provide supervisors with regular and detailed reports of progress on assigned tasks or projects upon request.
- Assist with ensuring the Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability of "personal information" by protecting against any potential threats or hazards to the security or integrity of such information including unauthorized access to, or use of, such information in a manner that creates a substantial security risk of misuse, theft, or fraud.
Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor of Arts or Sciences degree in an IT related field, or 10+ years of experience in the areas of project management, business requirement analysis, enterprise architecture, system administration, software development, and managing complex enterprise and application environments.
- Strong experience in using, configuring, and troubleshooting enterprise tools including virtualization (vmware), enterprise storage, Windows Server and Active Directory, Microsoft365, Entra and Defender products, MS MDM solutions like MS InTune and JAMF, Ellucian Colleague SIS/ERP, backup and recovery solutions, productivity applications, and other business-critical applications. Industry certifications like MS Engineer/Architect, Network+ and/or ITIL are preferred.
- In-depth technical experience in systems security, user security at the client level, and installing third party software products.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Bending, kneeling, carrying, lifting (50 pounds), pushing, pulling, reaching, sitting, standing, and walking required for this position.
- Occasional travel, extended, on-call, or weekend hours may be required for critical support needs.
