Job Summary

The Director of Licensing supports all programs, graduate and undergraduate, that include pathways to a professional teaching license in Minnesota. In cooperation with program directors, faculty, staff, and administration, the Director of Licensing ensures full compliance with the standards set forth by the Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB). Reporting to the associate dean of the Graduate School of Education, the Director of Licensing also serves as the Unit Leader and Identified Official with Authority related to PELSB.

Salary Range: $60,000 - 65,000

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Represent teacher licensure programs with professionalism to internal and external stakeholders
  • Support students in teacher licensure programs by maintaining records, supporting field placement, and assisting with licensure applications
  • Ensure compliance with PELSB standards, attend PELSB meetings, and serve as the primary point of contact for the university with PELSB
  • Attend Minnesota Association of Colleges for Teacher Education meetings and stay current with best practices
  • In coordination with program directors and faculty, support the required assessments for all preservice teacher candidates including EdTPA and CPAST
  • In collaboration with program directors, establish and maintain communication with local school partners to support student teacher placements
  • Gather and maintain necessary evaluation data for program assessment, state reporting, licensure applications, edTPA, Title II, PERCA, EPPAS, Teacher Education Advisory Committee (TEAC), and Student Performance Assessment Committee (SPAC).
  • Manage student data through Anthology Portfolio and generate reports as needed for internal and external reporting.
  • Manage assessment system for student licensure students with a process for annually collecting and reviewing data from surveys at program completers, clinical experiences, assessments required by PELSB Standard 19, and candidate scores on board-adopted performance assessments.
  • Engage stakeholders including student candidates, program completers, student partners, teacher educators, and community partners for unit evaluation.
  • Support program directors of teacher licensure programs, as needed.

Experience and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor degree; master’s degree in education-related field (preferred)
  • A current Minnesota professional teaching license
  • Familiarity with Anthology Portfolio (preferred)

Physical Demands

Sedentary work. Sedentary work involves lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met.
