Company: The University of Olivet

Job Location:

Category: Admissions and Enrollment

Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

The University of Olivet seeks a dynamic and experienced Director of Undergraduate Recruitment to lead its undergraduate admissions. Reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment, this role provides strategic direction and hands-on management of the admissions team and recruitment activities. The Director of Undergraduate Recruitment oversees all aspects of the enrollment funnel – from inquiry and application through admit and enrollment – to ensure the college meets its annual enrollment goals. This position involves close collaboration with athletic coaches, fine arts program directors, and other campus partners to coordinate outreach initiatives and special recruitment programs. Additionally, the Director spearheads on-campus and virtual recruitment events, manages territory outreach strategies, and leverages the Slate CRM system to track progress and maintain effective communication with prospective students and families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and lead a team of admissions counselors and support staff, fostering a high-performance culture focused on excellent student service and meeting recruitment targets.
  • Recruitment Strategy: Develop and implement effective undergraduate and international recruitment strategies in alignment with institutional enrollment goals, in consultation with the Vice President for Enrollment.
  • Cross-Department Coordination: Coordinate closely with athletic coaches and fine arts program directors to integrate admissions efforts for student-athletes and fine arts recruits, ensuring cohesive outreach and consistent messaging across departments.
  • Event Management: In collaboration with our coordinator for campus visits and events, plan and execute engaging recruitment events – such as campus open houses, tours, school visits, and admitted student days – providing a positive, personalized experience for prospective students and their families.
  • Territory Management: Oversee territorial assignments and travel plans for admissions counselors, ensuring effective coverage of key markets and monitoring outreach activities in each region.
  • Application Oversight: Manage the application review and decision process, establishing clear evaluation guidelines and timelines to ensure timely, holistic review of applications and notification of admission decisions.
  • CRM and Data Utilization: Utilize the Slate admissions CRM and other technology tools to manage prospect and applicant data, track the admissions pipeline, and automate communications. Monitor funnel metrics (inquiries, applications, admits, deposits) and analyze data to inform recruitment tactics and report progress regularly to senior leadership.
  • Prospect Communication: Communicate proactively with prospective students, parents, and high school counselors via email, phone, and in-person meetings. Provide accurate information about academic programs, campus life, and financial aid, and guide prospective families through the college decision process.
  • Collaboration and Outreach: Work with campus colleagues in marketing, financial aid, faculty, and student life to ensure a coordinated recruitment and onboarding process. Serve as an approachable representative of the College at admissions events and in the community.
  • Staff Development: Provide ongoing training, support, and professional development opportunities for admissions staff. Promote a positive and collaborative team environment, and ensure staff have the resources needed to succeed in their roles.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in college admissions or enrollment management (undergraduate focus preferred), with progressively increasing responsibility.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to supervise and inspire a team of admissions or recruitment professionals to achieve goals.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) systems and admissions software (experience with Technolutions Slate preferred).
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to engage effectively with diverse prospective students, families, and campus stakeholders.
