Overview
The Director, Solutions Lead – HR and Payroll, serves as the principal technology owner responsible for the design, configuration, systems integration, and technical lifecycle management of NYUs core HR and Payroll technology ecosystem, to enable the service delivery strategies defined by University Human Resources (UHR) and the Finance Controller's Division (CDV). Lead a team that is directly responsible for the maintenance of the University's human capital management (HCM) applications, payroll and time & absence systems, employee learning management application, and administrative recruiting systems. This role partners directly with University HR and Finance leadership, school HR teams, and global campus stakeholders to translate strategic business needs into high-performing, secure, compliant, and cost-effective HR and Payroll application solutions. The Director provides hands-on leadership of the HR and Payroll application development, configuration, and tier 2/3 support teams, driving both short-term project success and long-term multi-year planning to ensure applications actively support the University's mission and administrative excellence.
Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business, or related major
Preferred Education:
Master's Degree Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field
Required Experience:
10+ years professional level experience in system implementations, project/program management and business process redesign and 5+ years with a focus on HR and Payroll systems and processes.
Preferred Experience:
Experience in higher education or in a large, complex organization.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Demonstrated expertise in HR and Payroll systems, HR and Payroll business processes, application development/support, and integrations, in large-scale institutions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including senior leadership. Strong orientation toward service and collaboration. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to lead and establish direction in times of ambiguity.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Demonstrated expertise in Workday HCM configuration, development, and support. Agile/Scrum or PMP certification.
Qualifications
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $200,000.00 to USD $240,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
