• Job Summary/Basic Function:The Department of Teacher Education at SUNY Potsdam seeks to create a pool of adjunct instructors for its undergraduate Elementary and Secondary Education programs and graduate MST program that may be taught on campus in Potsdam, at the JCC extension site in Watertown, and/or online. Specific areas of need include content methods courses (e.g., science, math, social studies, literacy) and the supervision of virtual pre-student teaching field experiences. Adjunct instructors deliver courses and monitor student progress; communicate with students, department, and college personnel; and ensure all relevant learning resources are available to students. Candidates may be asked to teach daytime, evening, and/or distance courses, or supervise field experiences, depending on the specific needs of the program.Job Requirements & Essential Functions of the Job:Deliver and review course syllabi and relevant supporting materials
• Create a dynamic and active classroom environment that supports the learning of each individual student
• Administer and report results of assessments relevant to course student learning outcomes and departmental guidelines
• Provide timely feedback for all submitted student work
• Align course instruction and activities to stated student learning outcomes
• Required Qualifications:Master’s degree in Education or closely related field
• Experience teaching in a P-12 classroom setting (minimum of 2 years)

• Preferred Qualifications:Doctorate in the appropriate disciplinary area
• Experience teaching at the college level
• Experience supervising field experiences and/or student teaching
• Experience teaching in an online environment
• We are, especially, seeking candidates who have worked with, done research with, or taught under-represented groups and have worked collaboratively across various departments in fostering the success of underrepresented groups.
