Educational Technologist

Full-time, 2 year fixed-term position at our Hawthorn campus.

About the Role

The Educational Technologist plays a critical role in supporting the delivery, optimisation and sustainability of existing and emerging educational technologies to enhance learning and teaching experiences across Swinburne.

Working collaboratively with EIX colleagues, educators, ITS and external vendors, the Educational Technologist provides expert advice on educational technologies, supports the deployment and scaling of education technology solutions, and ensures platforms are secure, accessible, data-informed and aligned to Swinburne’s Learning and Teaching strategy.

They will also provide training sessions and ongoing support for educators to facilitate the adoption of new educational solutions as part of the Educator Capability Program (ECP).

Full-time, 2 year fixed-term position at our Hawthorn campus.

About You

To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Demonstrated experience in administering enterprise-level platforms / LMS and a deep understanding of eLearning standards like LTI, SCORM and xAPI.
  • Proven ability in creating customised platform reports and using Excel and business intelligence tools to extract, analyse, and present data for organisational decisions.
  • Demonstrated dedication to maintaining accurate learning records and audit-ready platform / LMS workflows while upholding the highest standards of user data privacy.
  • A strong aptitude for diagnosing and fixing technical issues related to software-user interfaces, browser compatibility, and content integration into platforms / LMS, often under tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of web basics for minor front-end customisations and an understanding of User Experience (UX) principles to improve the learner journey.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to translate "tech-speak" into simple instructions for non-technical users and provide expert advice to senior management.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to collaborative teams, work independently when required, and manage multiple projects simultaneously, such as a system migration, a seasonal enrolment surge, or a university-wide compliance rollout.
